Is your child having behavioral problems which are interfering with school, family, or friendships?
Are you wondering if the behavior is normal or if he/she will outgrow it?
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, my goals include helping you be the kind of parent you would like to be, while working with your child or adolescent to change his/her behavior.
With children under 12, I utilize play therapy along with family sessions. When children play, their imaginations take over and they are in a world of their own. Play Therapy is one of the best therapeutic models for children because it gives them the opportunity to develop skills they may be struggling with, including understanding and regulating their emotions. Play also provides a familiar way for children to process situations such as loss, divorce, bullying, etc.
With adolescents I spend time developing trust so they will feel comfortable in sharing their innermost feelings.
I have 10 years’ experience working with children, adolescents and young adults.
I am also an active member of the Children's System Advisory Committee (CSAC) . The goal of the committee is to develop a system of services and supports for children who have emotional, behavioral, or substance related needs and are involved in 2 or more systems of care.
